Saturday August 1st 2009...a few of us will be taking a relaxing float from Jacob myers park in RiverBank CA and exit at McHenry Rec off river road......we are going to meet at the park and be in the water by Noon...Well will stop alone the way to the rec and clean a couple of beaches ...Float time estimation is 5 to 6 hours...( This float went great. picked up twice the amount of trash than set out for and THANKYOU McHenry Rec host for that kayak paddle we needed...... cant wait to float again soon....)
Sunday August 9th 2009....Floating and cleaning along Stoffer Park in Ripon Ca...... A few of us are meeting at Stoffer at 11 am and getting out on Mohler rd. Float time estimation 5 hours....(Bring float raft,tube,or kayak and garbage bags) good to bring water and a lunch..(Todays float was nice we hung around the park today picking up almost every peice of trash...the views from all beaches and from the bike bridge is spotless NICE WORK) We need trash grabbers
September 19th 2009 is Coastal Cleanup Day We will be doing ur own cleanup at McHenry REC... On this day we will clean the river and park.. please bring what you can (Trash bags(5 gallon buckets are reusable trash bags),food,water,float raft,lifejacket,gloves..(for yourself and or for others if you can) the river is slow and calm through this park any you could walk it if wanted.... Mechenry rec is located on RIVER RD.... driving from modesto is take Mchenry toward escolon turn left on river road and its just past the railroad crossing on the left.....I dont plan on to many people attending but who knows.... If you'd like to come help please show up anytime from 9am-sunset... you dont have to be in the water to help there are beaches and trails that need attention... ill be the guy waring a straw hat with a Earths Water Restoration Shirt on.....there will be dumpsters for the trash and tires will be stacked on the side....bring friends......Safety first...(today was great few new faces cleaned up the park,trails,river..Cleard out 35 bags of trash and some random other stuff...Great work! We Thank USACE for the dumpster and permit, Janet Cohen for the trah bags and gloves....Nice shirt ill send you one of ours when they get here...We thank Ronney the host for all his help and services..)

March 9th 2010 Today we floated the river for about 4 1/2 hours to see how the river was acting and looking...
4 hours into it we ended up being the first river swimmers of the year.... The river is dirty cloudy still and we will make another trip in april....
March 27th 2010 Canoe float from Mchenry to Ripon 11am at the mchenry rec and pull out at mavis Stoffer Park in Ripon. This float was nice.. 75 out zero wind and slow water.... few things went on . I slipped and kicked a good knot in my shin..Another got hit in the face with a branch (lucky for those sunglasses..) and we had a few people flip into the river (cold but refreshing..) Safty First all the time....
JUNE through September 25th 2010...... going to be pulling tires and heavy junk out of the water and piled nicley along the river about high water line so we can pick it up during the September float feel free to do this when you float the river..this cleaning will be done between jacob myers park in river bank to Mchenry rec in escalon......... We will be posting other floats and clean ups as well.....
PLAN AHEAD....September 25th 2010 Joining forces for the Great Sierra River Clean up....... We will be floating from Jacob Myers Park in River Bank to Mchenry Rec off river road by Escalon ... its a 3 hour float + clean up time .. this stretch has it all and is offen floated in the summer by 10's of thousands of people of all ages....We will be floating around 11:30 but you may float at any time.... Bring your canoe,kayak,aluminum boat, anything that will float down the river..... Floaters should bring water,lunch,hat,sunglasses, anything you think you may need.... ( There is no transporter to bring people back to the first park floaters need to set up there own rides ) Its for a great cause and worth it... thanks
This was a great float, we pulled a old toilet,6 tires, some steel,Quit a few diapers GROSS, and lots more.. we all took a vote and its between 250-300lbs of trash pulled in 5 to 6 mile stretch and there are still many trips needed......thanks for your help......Got in at 11:30 and out at 4:30 not a bad 5 hour run
2o11 2011 claning is canceld... Family issue I dont see this year getting cleaned up....sorry everyone...next year will do double the work
Seasons coming up time to start planning ...... A couple goals are Clean Ripons stan river between spring creek and the bike bridge(rough entry and a little up river paddling for some)...
2012 is here , Happy New Years to you all...
This year we will be doing some good cleaning .. 1 goal is the clear all trash visible from the McHenry bridge over the stani.. lots of tires on the bottom... If anyone floats down the river feel free to pull the tires out of the water and set them high enough so the water wont reach them when the river rises and Ill pick them up... same with trash..
2012/1/10--- I Was at the rec on river road the river is very low and a great time to get some stuff off the bottom of the river thats now dry sand before water levels rise again.. its great kayaking water and exploring water.. I hope to have a spring cleaning trip planned soon...
